Nielsen-Wilson Design Featured in Upcoming Issue of Luxury Home MagazineDenver-Based Design Firm Recognized for Exceptional Blend of Old and New in Luxe Magazine Feature
DENVER, March 2009 – Nielsen-Wilson Design, a Denver-based luxury interior design firm, is slated to be featured in an upcoming issue of Luxe Magazine for their work on a Boulder, Colo. home. Luxe is a quarterly journal that showcases the best in luxury home designs, interiors and architecture in Colorado, Chicago, Texas, Southern California and Seattle. The featured home belongs to Jack and Sophie Walker and is nestled on Boulder’s famed Pearl Street downtown. A renovated mortuary, the design coupled modern and historic elements to create a visual masterpiece that perfectly showcases the couple’s eclectic art collection.
“The Walker home was an incredible project to work on,” said principal Mary Nielsen-Wilson. “We were tasked with merging the history of the space with the personal style of the Walkers’ and their art collection. The result was incredible, and we are so please it will be featured in Luxe.”
Nielsen-Wilson was integral from start to finish on the transformation of the 6,300 square foot structure that was originally built in 1925. Keeping in mind the Walkers’ love of entertaining, Nielsen-Wilson created the ideal space and design by blending both aesthetic and structural essentials. From dramatic entrances to a cozy library, the home comfortably brings together seemingly polar elements.
“My goal for our home overall was that it be dramatic, warm and comfortable. I gave Mary a mission statement at the beginning of our relationship, and there wasn’t a thing on the list we didn’t accomplish through her wonderful sense of design, detail and teamwork,” Sophie Walker said. “It was a very trying, but wonderful process, and if it had been easy, I don’t think this amazing place would have turned out as well as it did. Jack and I could not be happier.”
The work on this project reflects Nielsen-Wilson’s attention to detail and ability to transform any space into a luxury dream home. In addition to residential properties, Nielsen-Wilson also specializes in commercial estates and hospitality venues. The article featuring the Walker home will appear in the June edition of Luxe Magazine.

Nielsen-Wilson Design Recognized by the Home Builders Association Awards for Excellence in 2008Denver-Based Design Firm Takes Home Two Prestigious Bar Awards for Interior Design and Internal Marketing
DENVER, November 2008 – Nielsen-Wilson Design, a Denver-based luxury interior design firm, was recently recognized by the Home Builders Association at the 2008 Bar Awards. Nominated in three categories, Nielsen-Wilson won awards for best interior design for a custom home, best brochure for a single product line, neighborhood or builder and received a nomination nod for best website by a builder, developer, associate or supplier.“We are honored to be recognized by the Home Builders Association for both our internal marketing work and our interior design achievements this year,” said principal Mary Nielsen-Wilson. “These awards are the perfect platform for us as we continue to grow and expand our portfolio into next year.”
The award for best interior design for a custom home was awarded for Nielsen-Wilson’s work on Steve and Mary Stingley’s Monument, Colo. home. The breathtaking, hilltop home was recently featured in Home & Architectural Trends magazine for its contemporary design departure from the traditional mountain home.
“The Stingley residence was an interesting project for us because we had the challenge of incorporating the surrounding mountain elements into a contemporary home. In the end, we designed a natural palette that created the perfect stage for the owner’s extensive art collection,” said Wilson. “We are especially pleased to be recognized for our work on this project in particular.”
Nielsen-Wilson’s winning brochure presented the interior design process from start to finish. Using original artwork, the brochure compared the beginning of conceptual design with the finished result. The nominated Web site expanded on this idea, showing the progression of projects from the inspiration behind designs to the finished interior.
The Bar Awards are presented each year by the Home Builders Association to members of the Denver home building community demonstrating unmatched excellence in their services. The awards were held on Nov. 1 at the Downtown Marriott hotel.
